I was so happy when Caroline Issa happened to be in the courtyard of Somerset House at the same time as me. I'm such a big fan of Tank Magazine (and her, of course), especially the current issue as it is about nostalgia, aura and the everyday modern work around us- which is basically what I am writing my dissertation on at the moment.

It was a nice break to be able to read a magazine (although Tank is huge, so it's more of a book!) in relation to my Univesity work- a combination of the two kinds of 'work' in my life.

Love all these modernized floral prints floating around for spring, especially love how Stella McCartney somehow managed to make loose fitting graphic flower prints look good.

I'm seeing flowers pop up everywhere myself and it's a kind reminder that the warmer months are on their way.

DAY.2.LFW.

Photobucket

Since I was hurrying around so much- and being busier than I've ever been at Fashion Week, I forgot to snap some shots of my outfits. As luck would have it, though, some other people did.

This was taken by the lovely guy from Harpers Bazaar Australia on day 2, when I decided to go head to toe in pastel (and flats!).

Raf Simons last collection for Jil Sander. Having announced earlier this week that he would be leaving after this show this collection was highly anticipated by the Mialn crowd, espeically with rumours of his move to Yves Saint Laurent or Dior. Personally I see him as a great fit for YSL with all this old school, sumptuous glamour.
I love the colour palette of pastels and perfect red teamed with nudes and metallics- very girlie but very sophisticated. Plus extra bonus points for the boxed flowers on the catwalk.

PARDON.MY.FRENCH.

I don't normally post videos, but you have just got to watch these! (if you haven't already).
Made by the ever amazing Garance Doré, with her to-die-for French accent, who takes you round New York Fashion week from her point of you, from taxi rides with Caroline Issa and Scott Schuman to Diane Von Furstenburg telling you the best ginger tea to make.

I also love that Garance is called Garance, as this is my (very French) middle name, and was almost my first name after the main character from the film Les Enfants du Paradis of whom my mother was a big fan of. But in the end, to be both English and French friendly my parents settled on good old multi-cultural and easily pronounceable Emma.

Antipodium was a great show. Such simplicity, but the perfect kind of effortlessly cool simplicity that can only be bought.

I love the see through PVC jumper. So English.

The (faux) furs and bang on yellow mustard trousers.

My favourite look. Nipples out and full force ahead.

And finally Geoffrey Finch himself, alongside the 1920's evening gloves come gorilla arms in the modern world.

One of my favourite clashes: red and pink.
Thakoon hit the nail on the head by mixing varying textures in his clash-combo.

Shoes shot for New York Magazine's The Cut, in some rare London sunshine, the last of which are my Miu miu's worn with Topshop socks. But gotta say I am loving the combination of Celine and Wang in the first photo!

I had never been to a Maria Grachvogel show before, so I didn't really know what to expect. Sure, I'd seen her stuff before, but so often with shows it's all about the atmosphere, and this can impact your view of the clothes tremendously.
For me, the collection used very simple shapes, nothing too tight, but was still super sexy and feminine- the accompanying shoes by Atlanta Weller were superb! And the big, over the top upside down horn necklaces added extra shimmer to the already sumptious colours.

I really loved the backs of the pieces, the mix of drapery and tailoring was exquisite.

Lots of gold to shimmer in the cold. These clothes were made for powerful women, who know they can still look good without having to be in a tight little cocktail dress.

In the sunshine at Somerset House that came and blessed us this morning.
Photos of everyone exiting the Marios Schwab show. All the colours looked so sumptuous in the light.

You'll notice that I've paired down my blog, made it super simple. I decided to do this because I didn't want all those little bits on the side to be distracting, it's all about the posts.

Just a quick hello and goodbye from me, all will come. But for now, I'm shattered!

Okay so more shirts and more pastels (get used to it). I'm packing for London, and it being my fourth season and all, I feel like an old timer- packing wise anyhow.
I will hopefully bring you some great coverage of London Fashion Week, I'm working for Notion Magazine again, and will be attending shows, writing reviews, interviewing designers and drinking far too much coffee. All of which I will post on here.

Above are more shirts from my ever extensive collection of them, alongside some shots from Elle Collections in which the colours from certain collections stand out to me, and fit into how I'm envisioning palettes this season, and most probably what I will end up wearing in the next few days (alongside my every trusty leathers).

P.S. how great are those pastel coloured chicks? They remind me of the pastel coloured cats that Tim Walker took photos of. I can see them as the next accessory on Anna Dello Russo's list.

SHIRT.

(Vintage shirt, H&M skirt)

Looking through my wardrobe recently, I've realised that I own a lot of shirts. On a day to day basis however, I'm more of a t-shirt girl.
So I thought I'd show you a couple of my old time favourites, starting with this checkered one which is a mens so it's quite big, but I just love the colour of it. (And the fact it now goes with my new skirt...)

Happy Valentines Day everyone!
