BLUE.

Love everything about this editorial with Dempsey Stewart for b Magazine- the blues, the prints, the oversized t-shirts. Right up my street. Not to mention the messy not-sure-if-I'm-straight-or-wavy hair which I tend to end up with most days.

Bright blue + printed / vintage + cinched in waist = the perfect summer dress.

OLYMPIC.RINGS.

A vintage shirt I found on eBay. I love the degradation of the thickness of the circles, which creates a kind of dip dye pattern effect, and the long pointy 70s collar.
It also seems to be quite apt that the pattern can't help but be compared to the Olympic Rings.

photos: me

Photos from last summer in the south of france- doesn't that first one look like its been taken in the middle of some American desert? The rocks are so red. Can you see what's looking at you in the last photo?
Busy with my dissertation (only 2 weeks left!) and my role as Creative Director for RĂªver Magazine at the moment. It's launching 1st June- very excited! Hopefully I can show you some teasers soon.

P.S. the post name refers to the most catchy song which seems to have been everywhere since the sun came out, and it reminds me of Emma Stone in Easy A, which is always a good thing.

A flick through the current Tank Magazine. If any of you follow me on twitter then you'll know that the theme of this issue relates uncannily to my dissertation which I am writing at the moment. Even the editor's letter mention my main theorists. Very strange, but very relaxing to (kind of) be working whilst reading a magazine. Not to mention all the beautiful editorials and extremely interesting articles.

I like Tank especially because as a magazine, it overlaps interesting articles with innovative images. The words talk of elements that fit into modern society and the media and images which surround us on a daily basis, whilst the images are thought provoking whilst also being in fashion. I think this is the kind of magazine that stands out as it doesn't focus too much on 'what's in fashion this month' as that seems beside the point unless I want someone to tell me how to dress, the stereotypical 'fashion victim'. As a reader, you get an idea of what looks good in the photos, and if they so happen to be in the shops this month- good riddance.
Especially when you work in fashion, either you know exactly what is 'in' so it's irrelevant, or you dress how you like anyway so it's pointless. In Tank, the fashion is more of an art, it's about the photography, it's about the people, it's about today, clothes become a prop in an editorial- it just helps that clothes are beautiful.

THE.SHAPE.

Photobucket

As you know, I'm a big fan of these fuschia silk trousers. I paired it with this cream oversized silk shirt- I love how it's too big as it creates great shapes at the back when I tuck just the front part in.

Seeing this dip dyed jeans on Stop It Right Now's sale blog, reminds me of how much I want to try and DIY some jeans a la Dries Van Noten.
Maybe I'll go and find some in a charity shop this weekend and have a play.
It also makes me think that I may well need to create a sub-blog for selling stuff in the next couple months as I'm moving and have more than I can carry (first world problems).

NATURE.

Photos from last summer in the mountains in the South of France. With all the work I've got on at the moment, and with summer hinting it's on its way, my mind keeps wandering off to this place. With endless light and shadow (my favourite) to photograph, scenic landscapes and fragile but colourful flowers at every corner, it's not hard to understand why.
Not to mention that when you live in a city you see 'nature' as the patch of grass and trees of the park, with the occasional spring flower. Nature for me is more of a calm state of mind, removed from everyday life and stresses- hence why I need to go all the way up (very thin windy roads) into the mountains to experience it. It's like the piece of your mind that you can't quite get to in the city.
Just a few more months and I can visit this corner - of France and of my mind - again.

TO.MY.BED.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I realised that I had begun most of my recent posts with 'some photos I took in London...' so I thought you'd like a change of scenery.

To my bed.

Don't get excited, I'm just using my sheet as a white background.
Placed on this perfect (creased to perfection) backdrop I placed three pieces whose colours I love together. The caramel of the shirt I got in brick lane last summer, my fuchsia silk high waisted trousers from Reign; alongside my favourite crop white knit jumper.

And there you have it, a walking dessert: ice cream, toffee and raspberry sauce.
