My current go-to outfit in the heat: cut off Levis and a baggy vintage crochet top.
Easy peasy.

When it comes to New Year, I always like to do a make up post as this is the one night of the
year where really: anything goes. Good, bad, weird, over the top; it's all good. You're celebrating
and it's about what you want, not anyone else.

There couldn't really be a more appropriately named make-up collection for a night of
celebration than Bobbi Brown's Scotch On The Rocks. Full of rich browns, neutrals and gold
it's the perfect fit for New Year's Eve. The perfect red lipstick I featured here is also part of
it and would make for a great pop of a colour on the night.

Reflections in the water and in my mind.

Water helps me reflect. I've always loved swimming in the ocean and lying in the sun, since I was
a little girl. Sure, it began as playing with my sisters and eventually as a teenager wanting to work
on my tan... But I've always found swimming and lying in the sun the perfect time to think, to sit
with my mind - a kind of meditation. Not focusing on breath but on heat on my skin, the
relaxing feeling of having tired yourself out swimming and lying down to relax on your towel.
Taking a deep breath and letting your whole body - and mind - relax.

As much as I've tried, December in the sun eliminates any possibility of that 'festive' feeling.
Harking back to some shots I took backstage at J. JS Lee and the beautiful knits and wrapped
up winter looks (turtlenecks, big coats) to remind me of what December is usually about.

Taking time out. It's often seen as a weakness - that you can't handle the fast pace of modern
life. Being 'busy' has become a badge of honour, that people wear as if their busy-ness/
busi-ness proves that they are doing something in life and makes them feel like they are
important because there is also something 'to do'.

Whilst having a busy schedule can be great for a while, and can mean you're doing well in
your career. I think it's always important to take time out for yourself, not think about work,
and spend a day or two (or a month or two if you can) reminding yourself who you are without
all the daily distractions of work, emails, partners, tv series...

Today I'm doing just that, taking a day for myself. I feel like since we got to Sydney and
stopped travelling, I've had so much to do (#busybrag) and have lost touch with myself
somewhat. I'm going to go and swim in the ocean and feel the sun on my skin, read, write
and think.

photo Christmas skincare gift sets MECCA REN glycolactic Neals Yard Alpha H _zpsftteprqb.gif

Part 3 of my Christmas GIFt Guide.

I often find that typical 'Christmas Gift Sets' are a bit of a fad, an often have minuscule sizes of
things you can't and probably won't ever use, thrown in a draw and forgotten about. However,
some brands have got it just right, especially Jo Malone whose Christmas offerings are always
above and beyond, with beautiful packaging - that cracker! - and so thought out.

Having said that, I'm really impressed with the festive packaging from REN and Alpha H and
the little boxes of goodness within them. A really great way for someone to discover a brand
and try cult classics such as the Glycolactic Mask and Liquid Gold. I've also popped in the Wild
Rose Beauty Balm from Neal's Yard, as the 10th Year Anniversary packaging makes the pot a
really special gift.

It feels like a while since I did a proper travel photo diary, and I couldn't be happier to look back
on the photos from one of my favourite towns we stopped in during our time in Vietnam: Hoi An.

Hoi An itself feels totally different to a lot of Vietnam, calmer. I think it's due to the fact that
the Ancient Town - a perfect example of French Colonial architecture - has survived, and entering
it feels like entering another world, almost like you've gone back in time. Famous for it's tailors,
we wandered around all day in and out of cafes, the boys having to go back and forth to fittings
for the suits they were having made, (I'm now regretting not getting something made!) and it's
the kind of place that makes me smile now when I think about it, which for me means it
was incredible and someday I hope to go back.

We were also lucky enough to be there during the monthly festival of light, where the whole of
the Ancient town turns off every light and only candle light is allowed, with everyone lighting
lanterns to drops into the canal. Magical.
