BLONDEFIDENT.

Answering the burning life question: Do blondes really have more fun?

Firsts can often be a daunting thing. After all, new experiences are scary as they are exciting.

When I first talked with L'Oreal Professionnel about going lighter, my first reaction was
No way! I won't look good with blonde!
But once I thought it through, and had firmly rid myself of the mental image of me,
myself and a bottle of Sun In aged 15 I realised that when you're in the hands of
professionals who know what they're doing (and have done so for 20 or more years)
things are very unlikely to go bad. After thinking it over I told myself what I did
before I chopped all my hair off: You have to try something before you can judge it -
and what's funner than playing around with hair! It will always grow back.

This was my first time dyeing my hair blonde (it goes strawberry blonde very easily in
the sun, despite my normal preference to try and keep it as chocolate brown as possible).
I wanted to keep my roots dark, as I think this compliments my eyebrows features best,
but I was intrigued to see what I would actually look like with professionally dyed
blonde hair.

Brett Albury, my colourist at Murphy Gozzard in Paddington, agreed that for my look
the roots should be kept darker and we would go go lighter and lighter towards the ends
of my hair to give a natural effect. We were calling the look 'bronde'.
(Oh hair, you do come up with the best/ most ridiculous names - I'm talking to you
ombre and balayage).

I'm really happy with the result - no bleach blonde in sight! - and am definitely living up
to the #blondefident hashtag that L'Oreal Professionnel is encouraging us all to use.
Whether or not blondes have more fun, it certainly does wonders for confidence to
have glowing, healthy looking hair.
