MEXICANA.

Visiting one of the wonders of the world... and a perfumeria that has been on my list for years.

Overall we spent 10 days in Tulum, and we changed hotel three times so that we got to see
different parts of the town and beach. But we also wanted to see what was further a field.
Having um-ed and ah-ed about whether we should hire our own car,  we ended up deciding
to book a tour which would take us to Chichen Itza, Yokdzonot cenote and Valladolid.

I think often when travelling you don't want to do the cliché tourist things and try and do them
your own way. But often this ends up in confusion, misunderstanding what you're visiting
and generally a whole lot more stress. Since we were just leaving Tulum for the day the ease
of having your own private guide with infinite knowledge not only on the incredible history
of Chichen Itza but also about Mexican culture (then and now) was really eye opening.

Our guide was Angela from Mexico Kan Tours (we went on the World Wanderer tour). She
was so kind and happy to answer to most random or silly questions, and even managed to
make time for me to visit Coqui Coqui Perfumeria after we had our lunch in Valladolid.
The town itself reminded me of Havana in a way - full of colourful old buildings.
I wish we had in fact decided to stay a couple nights in the town as I felt like there was a lot
more to discover. Next time!
