UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN.
Returning to Italy had been on my to-do list for this summer. I’ve only ever visited once and after reading Under the Tuscan sun in the depths of winter earlier this year, I knew I needed to check the region out for myself. Cliché, I know.
I didn’t know where to start when looking for a place, so hopped onto the Chic Retreats website which guided me towards Fontelunga Hotel & Villas – near the towns of Arezzo and Sienna.
We flew into Rome and spent a night there before catching the train through the Italian countryside to Arezzo, a short drive from the hotel. I’m happy to say it was as idyllic as I had hoped. Within 25 minutes of our arrival we were already talking about how we could come back again next year.
We were staying in the main house of the hotel – with it’s beautiful washed pink walls and baby blue shutters (I was in visual heaven!) and had a room that looked out onto the rolling hills of Tuscany. We spent 2 nights and 3 days there. We ventured out to a local restaurant for dinner on the first night, but otherwise we ate delicious pasta, salads and drank our fair share of rosé by the pool. The best getaway from London I could ask for.
I hope the photos below do it justice.
Thank you Frances for helping out with the photos of me.
