SUMMER SKIN.
Looking after my skin in summer is all about focusing on hydration and protection… oh wait, that’s always what it’s about! But for summer I do like to use lighter textures and focus on being gentle on the skin as sun exposure makes my already sensitive skin that much more fragile.
The Organic Pharmacy Cellular Protection Sunscreen SPF30
Something that’s very close to my heart – the ocean. And we of course think of the ocean when we buy sunscreen, but recently it’s come to my attention that an ingredient which is in many sunscreens is in fact harming the coral in the ocean – in fact it’s bleaching it and damaging it. The ingredient is oxybenzone, and from now on I’m going to try and only use SPF that doesn’t have it in. This one from the Organic Pharmacy combines titanium dioxide and zinc oxide to protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays – no harm done to the ocean!
BYBI Beauty Detox Dust & Buffer
I recently discovered this brand and love that it’s a clean, green beauty brand. The Detox Dust is a product you can use either in addition to another mask or as a gentle exfoliator on its own. I mix it with a little water and it’s a great gentle exfoliator in the morning. The Buffer works wonders to remove dead skin from your lips – which for me oddly happens a lot in summer.
Beauty Pie Japanfusion Hydra Prep Lotion
A great way to make your skincare work better is to properly prep the skin, and I find using this type of lotion (or essence) softens the skin too. It helps you get the most out of your expensive serums, let’s say. I love the idea behind Beauty Pie, a subscription service where you pay only wholesale prices if you signup (the difference is staggering!) but you can also pay the regular price if you don’t want to commit to signing up.
Sisley Paris Hydraglobal serum
A new take on a great product, the new serum version of the classic Hydra Global cream from Sisley is the perfect replacement for summer, when i tend to go for lighter textures in my products. It’s perfect for adding that extract boost of hydration as it helps aid your natural production of hyaluronic acid. Plus it’s oil free and non comodogenic.
Avène Tolérance Emulsion
After recently visiting the small town of Avène and the Hydrotherapy Centre they have there, I’m even more in awe of the power of their products. This product is a calming, lightweight moisturiser that is perfect if you’ve got sensitive skin that’s prone to redness and inflammation (yep, that’s me!). It absorbs really fast into the skin to help seal in moisture and create a protective barrier for your skin. This is a staple I think almost everyone should have in their cabinet, especially since it doesn’t break the bank.
La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Eyes
Another product that’s great for sensitive skin, this is a really mild and soothing formula for that ever so sensitive area of skin around the eyes. I recently developed hay fever (apparently in London it’s worse as the pollen particles stick to the pollution particles… how lovely) and this helped hydrate the area and made my eyes feel a lot more nourished without having to apply a heavy product. Also great if you’ve got eczema or other allergies.
Dior Capture Youth Plump Filler
A perfect serum for summer, this guy seemingly does it all; antioxidants and hyaluronic acid help protect and plump the skin while giving it a heavy dose of hydration. Not only does it look chic AF on your dressing table, it has a really wonderful texture that satisfies your skins needs.
Hello Day Sun Prime tablets
Something a little different to help your skin this summer. These tablets include copper to help balance pigmentation, Beta-Carotene to enhance your tan and Vitamins A and E to protect your skin from oxidative stress. Take one daily, and still use SPF!
