SELF PHOTOGRAPHY.

One year on from when I first shared my self portraits.

I’m so glad I decided to do it and continue to share more of my own personal work on here and instagram  – it feels like I’ve been able to discover more of who I am and who I want to be through shooting them and it’s a new experience each time. I’ve shot myself for years – first through necessity when I started the blog and had no one to take my photos – and then through enjoying the experience when travelling alone. But it was only a year ago I decided to share a personal series I had been shooting.

Looking at them all now, each one reminds me so much of where I was and how I was feeling – something for me which is very different from when someone else takes my picture. When I shoot it, it’s just me alone with me. No one else’s thoughts or visions are involved and I love that. It’s capturing myself as I see myself at that moment. I hope in 10, 20, 30 years I’ll have all these images to look back on and see how I saw myself throughout my life, and how my relationship with myself evolved. For me, they’re about a state of womanhood, and learning to understand that alongside the sometimes conflicting feelings that can bring.

I also now have my first Limited Edition self portrait print (above) which you can buy here.  I chose to have Nothing But The Girl as the first print from the series as for me it represents feeling truly liberated and at peace with oneself – with a view onto better things to come.
