gIRL series: TIA.

I’m very excited today to launch my new gIRL series: girls In Real Life.
I’ve been shooting images of my own life and body for years so I decided to turn the camera on the women around me that inspire, motivate and champion me. Women who have a softness and a kindness that I want to capture. All the images I shoot for this will be on film with no retouching, and I’ll ask them all some questions about beauty.

I’m very honoured to launch the series with my beautiful friend Tia Ward.
What makes you feel beautiful?
A spritz of my favourite perfume, laughing insanely hard with my friends, a compliment from a female friend, doing something kind for someone else. If I can be superficial for a minute – I’d say when I’m fresh out of the ocean, my skin is clear and sun kissed, & I’m having a good hair day.

What is beauty to you?
Beauty to me is an experience that gives me pleasure and satisfaction.  That could be a book, a place, a person. It is so much more than skin deep to me. It comes from actions and thoughts, kindness. in order to find something beautiful, it has to be a little raw for me, authentic. not too processed or tampered with. I find a lot of beauty in nature and design.

What is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen?
This is almost an impossible question! I saw the most beautiful sunrise in Thailand a few years ago, honestly breathtaking. That was the first thing that came to mind.
