It’s no surprise that I love a good skincare routine, and for me this extends to my whole body. Although my face care does extend down to my chest, that isn’t enough for me.
I love using a dry brush, and oil, a cream and a good body wash and of course scrub to keep the skin on my body feeling as good and loved as the skin on my face. The funny thing about body care is that it’s easily forgotten or seen as too much effort, but for me I really count it as part of my self care as taking a few minutes to be at one with myself, massaging a product in – whether that’s when I wake up or before I go to sleep – makes me feel a lot calmer and present.
I think all thorough body routines should include a scrub, oil and cream to make sure the skin is properly exfoliated, hydrated and nourished. I would use a scrub once every week or so and cream or oil everyday. Even if I’m not showering in the morning but I feel my skin is dry I’ll apply oil or cream to counteract the dryness. Technically you can layer the oil with a cream but honestly who has time or the patience for that – one whole body application of either is great! I often apply an oil to my feet before bed too, around the nails and underneath – perhaps the most forgotten area since we rarely see it! – and it makes a huge difference, plus it’s lovely to massage your feet every night. I also use a dry brush for a couple minutes before I shower, this is great for promoting good circulation and diminishing any cellulite.
In summer I like using a lighter cream such as the Neutrogena Hydro Boost gel cream or the Gallinée probiotic body milk that aren’t too thick and heavy in the heat. In terms of scrub the Oskia Renaissance Body Scrub that was created in collaboration with myself (you can read all about that here) which uses both enzymes and Himalayan salt to tackle exfoliation both chemically and manually for the smoothest skin you’ll ever had.
